“I had the joy of participating in a Marionette Making workshop facilitated by Bambi. It was my first experience making a puppet and I had a wonderful time! Bambi carefully and thoughtfully led us through making our own traditional puppets, whilst explaining the history of the craft and where to find out more about it.”

“Morbid Merriments brings an aura of the beauty of death to living things, and the beauty of life to dead things. A unique artist, who brings enthusiasm, generosity and intelligence to all her work. Her puppets and way of working is everything I love about the viscerality of puppetry and performance. Uncanny, Gothic, Serene, Spooky and above all Beautiful.”

“It’s hard to describe the feeling of belonging that radiated from myself and those around me. Performers graced the dancefloor and weaved in and out of the crowds, Morbid Merriments being a particular favourite. The talented multidisciplinary artist gilded the event with herself and her puppets - curious critters whom she’d lovingly crafted from dried flora and bones”

“I attended Morbid Merriments Marionette workshop during a puppeteering weekend in Dartmoor, and it was truly amazing! Bambi made the whole experience very approachable for a first-timer, explaining a complex process in a clear and straightforward manner. I loved that we used found materials from our surroundings (stones, sticks, and some fabric) to create our Marionettes. The process was eye-opening and getting a little puppet at the end that we could perform with felt truly magical. Bambi's love of Marionettes is contagious, and her skills are undeniable. Highly recommend!”

“Bambi was a dedicated and consistent influence on the creation of our community made giant puppet making process. The puppet, Avona, is the spirit of our river the Avon and has been present at many community events, ceremonies and performances since her creation. Bambi not only crafted her into being but has puppeteered often in the two years since she was made. Bambi has had to be dynamic in her efforts to safely and successfully animate the puppet in all weather's and terrains, uniting local communities in the process.”

“Bambi / [Morbid Merriments] was so, so, generous with her time and skills. She is calm, patient, and a well of knowledge - I learnt that, in the UK, the craft of Marionette Making is endangered, so it felt special and important to be taking part”
Eilis, Workshop Attendee
“Her ability to move so fluidly between different artistic forms, while maintaining such a distinctive visual and theatrical language, made her work a real highlight of the event. We are always delighted to work with her again and again. ”

“Bambi created a safe and friendly space in which we could play, learn and share in our creative process. I’m excited to take what I learnt into my own practice and make more Marionettes!”

“Bambi held an afternoons Marionette Making workshop to our ‘Puppet Making for Change Making’ event. Her workshop was such a hit with all who participated. We had not pre arranged for the workshop to take place but there was so much demand for it that Bambi decided to teach an impromptu workshop, using materials gathered from the scrap pile and twigs and stones from the hedges. Bambi’s workshop made Marionette Making accessible, fun and understandable for many people who had never made a puppet before. I can definitely say that we would love to invite her back to the festival next year to share more of her specialist Marionette knowledge. Thank you Bambi, we love what you do!”

“Bambi is a passionate devotee of the importance of access to all for the arts, and one of the most dedicated and hard-working artists that we are lucky enough to work with.”

"We have worked with Morbid Merriments on two music videos now and have enjoyed every moment of it, from the initial conception of the ideas to the problem solving on shoot days. Her unique combination or puppetry, automata, masks, outfits, and performance is like nothing else we’ve encountered. Her handmade creations are the perfect mix of darkness and whimsy, monstrous yet full of heart.
Bambi is a dream to work with and full of ideas. She is always up for a challenge and for pushing herself creatively, going over and above all expectations when it came to the finished product, taking the lead in shaping the visuals. She clearly takes pride in her craft and that shows in her work. We don’t know what goes on inside that head of hers, but whatever it is, is truly magical – if a little scary! Long live those utterly wild grotesqueries!"

"Bambi draws on Gothic themes, folklore, and fairy tales to create beautifully strange marionettes that tell stories addressing the darker aspects of our humanity, all infused with joy and wonder".
